I took off the two screws on the interior plates, but I cannot remove the plates. It seems they are glued to the door.
It is supposed to be an easy job, Any ideas?

It looks like maybe there is just a bit of paint holding the cover on. Use a utility knife to carefully cut around the perimeter and then see if you can get a flathead under(insert at the bottom to hide the potential damage). You can also lightly tap with a mallet or a block of wood and hammer and it will probably come free
First thing you need to do is find the set screw that releases the inside handle. then you pry off the escutcheon plate (trim plate). the two screws you are looking for are under the trim plate.
If anyone still needs help with this, i finally figured out the right way to remove this type of interconnected lock set. Thanks to Locksmith Ben, who was kind enough to help me on face time :)
There is a tiny square shaped pin, which was spring loaded. i had to push it upwards and pull the knob out.
