Vent – Ideas for Grille Cover for Ceiling Vent Next to Wall
ductsregistervent
The typical size 10×4 won't work because the wall is right next to it on one side (see picture).
I can buy a smaller size but then the question is where do I screw in the second hole.
Any ideas?

You could use the 10 x 14 and cut edge off that goes up against the wall and then drill two holes in each of the long edges of the register close to the wall. Use two plastic anchors and screws there and then one of the regular screws that came with the register on the far end. Stay cool man.
One option would be to reconfigure the ducts so that there's an independent run for each classroom, joining into a trunk just before the fan. This way you could use dampers in each duct run to balance the airflow between rooms. If you keep the dampers far away from the registers, you can minimize the effect of the turbulence (and associated noise) from the dampers.
Make a 4" dia plug from a 1x6 or plywood, screw eyelet into center, clamp plug into dryer vent with worm gear clamp. Pull through with your fish tape. Perhaps a taped cone could be centered over the plug (and the fish tape lead through the center, for better insulation tracking).
Down the road this lint brush will remove any buildup. This one has a 10ft shaft.
I'd urge you to convert to smooth walled metal duct and add a screened vent wall cover or a spring loaded damper.
