I am looking into how I can unclog my bathroom sink.
I am looking at the pipe underneath and it seems that it has 2 points that can be used to be released. Why is this? Does it matter which to use?
This is the v shaped pipe underneath the bathroom sink we usually remove when the sink is clogged.
How is this pipe removed? Seems to have 2 points to be released

Go to your local hardware store and purchase a strap wrench:
The rubber strap wraps around and grips the cover. Then you rotate the wrench anticlockwise to unscrew the cover off the tap. The strap prevents scratching of the finish which would normally occur trying to unscrew the tap with the jaws of a regular wrench. There are also regular-style wrenches with soft jaw fittings that may also be used.
I would call it a slip x spigot brass drain street ell. Can't say I've seen one until now. More common is the double slip brass drain ell. Hard to say from a photo, but looks like a short horizontal straight piece could be inserted if you had to use a double slip ell. Perhaps the trap U could be rotated away a bit to buy a little extra distance for this.

That looks like a double-ended compression coupling. It is used because most people cannot spin their sinks or houses around to unscrew them.
Use a pipe wrench to unscrew both ends of that coupling to gain better access to the pipe.
