I use this 6×10' grating for sunlight and aeration but its a menace when it rains. I have used multiple plastic sheets and tarpaulins. They do block the rainwater but start leaking or tearing apart after a few months. What are some permanent measures that I could take to fix this. Also, is there any automated method to do this when required.
If it's heavily driven on, it's likely extremely compacted, which only increases the water run-off and retention (since it can't properly drain anywhere).
can you use gravel? A gravel driveway would likely be the easiest solution.
Barring that, you could look at using a grid 'pavement' system:
It lets you plant grass without the turf having to take the brunt of the vehicle weight, so it remains porous.
You could try hiring an electric eel
or get a plumber with a jetter
But either of these options may still not work it the pipe is broken or snapped and the two sections of pipe are now ofset from one another. Even if these options do work to clear the pipe you still have to remember that the cause of the root problem is still there, cracked or broken joints or pipe, which will require ongoing treatment eg. running the eel through once a year or similar chemical treatment.
The other option is to get the shovel out or hire a mini digger and replace the pipe with a pvc drain

If you have no glass to keep rain out and the window is open all year except when you put plastic over it. If you prefer to have no glass, I am sure there is a producer of automatic louvers that have a rain sensor to sense when they need to close. They may shade the window more than the grate does now, but it will keep the rain out.I am sure the shade will be custom made for each window.
