I unplugged my refrigerator without turning it off. Now it won't come back on. The light works however, the compressor does not. Will it ever come back on or should I just throw it out. I've only had it for about 18 months purchased new.

Refrigerator - Icemaker Leaking or Dripping Water
If your icemaker is leaking water into your ice bucket or onto your floor, several things could be the source of the problem. Check the following items:
- Be sure the water line fittings are secure.
- Check the water valve for leaks.
- See if water is leaking from the fill tube extension.
- See if the defrost water drain is cracked or overflowing.
- Check for water on the exterior of the refrigerator case.
- See if the refrigerator is leveled. How to Level a Refrigerator.
Note: If the icemaker is leaking water onto the floor of your home, turn off the water supply to your icemaker. This line is usually located under the kitchen sink. Locate the cold water line under the sink, and look for a small 1/4" copper line attached to it. Where these two lines meet, there will be a saddle valve. Sticking out from this valve will be a post with a wire running through it. This is the shut-off valve. Turn this valve in a clockwise manner until it stops. This will shut off the water to the icemaker. If the water line is not connected under the sink, it will be in the basement or crawl space.
I would check items 4 & 6.
For a clogged defrost drain GE says
Top freezer refrigerators:
Water under the vegetable pans is the usual evidence of a clogged defrost drain tube. Most top freezer models require some disassembly to access the defrost drain tube. Which isn't much help if you want to fix it yourself.

'sOne possibility is the heater strip that is in the air duct between the freezer and the refrigerator section. This strip warms the icy air to provide the cold for the top. If it fails then ice buildup occurs in the duct until it blocks off the air flow and the top gets warm.
When unplugged the ice melts. If this part failed or it's thermo sensor failed it is a cheap fix (around $30 not including service fees). I have had this happen on our old GE losing several hundred dollars of food in the refrigerator.
If you put doors on and plug it in and the top gets to the proper level of cold for several days until ice starts building up again you may likely have this issue.
A refrigerator/freezer thermometer is cheap and handy to see what the sections temperatures are really doing, even on a newer digital control unit.

Refrigerators turn on / off based on the internal temperature, check your thermostat dial and make sure it is set properly - perhaps initially to coldest. If it has a power switch as you said - model number not listed, cycle the power switch.
Some of these units have a trip on the back side of the unit to protect the compressor - check that it is not tripped (might be a red or black push pin style), light will work but cooling will not, it protects the compressor it is an overload, unplugging and plugging while running may have caused this to trip.
