I have Zurn crimp rings and the Zurn ratchet tool. I was wondering what brass fitting I can use. Do they need to be Zurn fittings or can they be any crimp fittings?
For example, can I use sharkbite crimp fittings? or do I need to use the Zurn crimp fittings? They look very similar or I can't tell the difference. Thanks for any help.
The benefits of the clamps are exactly as you say - the biggest one being that they're sometimes the only option in a cramped area. They used to be over 5x the price of the rings, which adds up very quickly -- but I see now they are only slightly more expensive.
I don't think they're any less reliable than regular pex crimps, I know of some (at my cottage) that have been fine for 5+ 10+15+ years now.
You need to evaluate where the leak is really coming from. Use some paper towels to thoroughly to dry the whole fitting area. Then watch to see where water first appears. I suspect that you may find the leak coming from here:
..as opposed to the PEX joint. It appears that you did not use a Teflon sealing tape on the pipe threads.

PEX labeled fittings are uniform (essentially). You can use any pex labeled fitting with any pex labeled tubing and any pex labeled crimp ring, provided they are all labeled for the same size tubing and the manufacturers literature shows as astm compliant. For ordinary residential remodeling you don't need to be concerned with pressure ratings of the assembly.
Note that PEX labeled components are for use with potable water only, unless otherwise noted in the manufacturers literature (I don't know of any exceptions but they may be out there).
