Trane units all use Blue as their 24 volt Common for their control circuits, Common is called this because all the 24 volt circuits return to Common to complete the 24 volt circuits.
Get rid of the external transformer, and pull a proper C wire.
It's not working because you have one side of the contactor coil connected to one transformer, and the other side connected to another transformer. There's not a complete circuit.
When the thermostat is calling for cool, your circuit looks like this
If you follow the circuit, you can see that it's not a complete circuit.
I've highlighted the R wire in red, and the C wire in blue.

Inside the unit, you should find a transformer. On the secondary side of the transformer (low voltage side) you should see a red wire attached to one terminal, and blue attached to the other. The terminal with the blue wire will also have a green with yellow strip wire, which attaches to the chassis. The blue wire is the
Cwire.Using a multimeter set to AC volts, you should measure about 24 volts between the red and blue wires.
Connect a wire between the blue wire terminal on the transformer, and the
Cterminal on the thermostat. That should get you up and running.
