Florida home: I'm wanting to relocate my washer and dryer to the garage. It is a gas dryer.
Question: Do I need to elevate both units off the garage floor? ( It is post 2003.)

I'm adding this as answer because I really think this is a solution that will work for you, even though as written, I really can't call it a duplicate.

The basic idea is to get a device that cuts power to the washer if water is detected. This will minimize any damage from a broken drain line since the machine will stop pumping water when the power is cut off.
If it were me, I'd install a new sanitary tee in the main drain, just above the existing sanitary tee. I'd have the standpipe for the washer come down into a P-trap, and connect the other end to the new tee.
However, you'll have to make sure the standpipe is at least 18" above the trap weir. If that height cannot be maintained, you'll have to move some things around.
I'm also not sure if a proper P-trap will fit in the stud bay, so you'll have to measure to verify. The minimum length of a trap arm is two pipe diameters. So if you're using 2" pipe, that's 4" from trap weir to the sanitary tee.
Then I'd have the trap from the washtub, connect to the existing sanitary tee.

I don’t know Florida but in Oregon you would , I believe if your water heater Is elevated your dryer would be covered by the same requirements because of possible flammable fumes from the garage, when the gas burner starts up. I recently raised my washer and dryer (both front loaders) 13-14” off the ground because of washer issues and my wife loves the height. I would raise it even if not code after doing it.
