I have wooden windows in my home, they came with a pulley mechanism to hold them up once they are opened. However, some of the pulley's cord popped, so now when I lift the lower window open and let go it falls back shut.
Are there any thing I can buy to keep the windows open without me having to wedge them ? I was thinking maybe they sell the Pulleys independently ?

The counter balance is not working correctly, but repairing this or replacing it is non-trivial. Instead, you can pickup a device like this that will create enough friction to hold the window in place. It should be installed between the window and the frame and is a simple DIY job.

These are called spring balances, and have enough tension in the spring to hold the window open (sorry about your hand). It's kind of hard to tell from the pictures you posted what type they are (other than older ones), but you should be able to find some instructions for a model similar to yours now that you know what to search for.
In general, you'll want to attach them at the bottoms first and then lift up the sash to allow re-attaching the tops. This is a lot easier with 3 hands, so you might want to have someone hold the sash up or prop it if you can find something the right height.

There are lots of options, repairing/replacing back to original specifications is the best option. Utilize the internet to understand how to remove the sashes and access the counterweight or spring balance parts.There are a lot of videos and depictions of how the molding is typically attached/removed, and the parting bead.
