Bought a Kingston single hole kitchen faucet. Took out old faucet and installed new one. Hooked up 3/8 to 1/2 braided supply lines. I tested the lines to be sure water came out, which it did, then attached supply lines to faucet.
Everything fits fine but when I opened the water lines again after hooking up the faucet, no water comes out faucet. I did turn the faucet handle 90* to accommodate the beveled breakfast bar.
Any ideas?
Any single handle/single spout faucet in effect connects the cold and hot water lines. That's part of your answer. You'll have to do more experimenting with the tub controls and both hot and cold water supplies.
Low pressure itself is not the cause, but low pressure could lead to flow reversal when a tap is open.
Water supply lines are standardized now and connect to a shutoff or supply with a compression style fitting.
Are the supply lines coming out of the floor a bare copper pipe or PEX? Or is there a shut off valve? If there is a compression ring and nut on the water supply, then that needs to be removed.
If there is no shutoff valve, then you should install one on each supply line (hot and cold). Unfortunately, builders stopped installing these some years ago to save $$ on the unseen costs of a house (which they perceive adds no value to the new home purchaser).
You can get the shutoff valves in straight (when coming out of the floor) or 90 degree - from the wall and for various supply line types (PEX, copper).
If you are not confident in your soldering skills, you can get a SharkBite valve that does not require soldering.
Assuming you have copper supply lines, and are not confident in your soldering skills, this is what you do:
- to use this kind of cutter, position the cutting wheel where you want the pipe cut and tighten the knob. Rotate the cutter twice, tighten a bit more, repeat until the pipe is cut through.
Use the cloths to mop up any water that comes out of the pipe as you cut it. Put the wet cloths in the bucket to contain the water.

Is there an aerator in the faucet outlet? If so, remove it, and try turning on again. These often get clogged from debris you shake lose in the lines during installation.
Some faucets also require you to remove part of the valve after installation to flush the lines, then re-install. Check the instructions for your faucet. If you could post the make and model of your faucet, we could look at the instructions and tell you more as well.
