It's about 20' from my RV to the water supply and electric receptacle. This is a high-traffic area, and having foot (and car!) traffic on the hose and wire seem like a bad idea.
Ideally, I'd run them underground, but that will have to come later. What can I do today?
One idea is to cut a piece of 4" pipe in half, to use as a cover. What else?
EDIT: I bought a PVC 1" barbed to 1/2" threaded fitting and a kit with a 2' >braided hose and a shutoff valve. So I'll try bringing the 1" poly up to under the >sink, and then use these bits. We'll see...
I would have probably done that as well (caveat: I am only vaguely familiar with poly, aka "Polybutylene." I have never used it for a job or even had to replace it...It's very uncommon here in northeast Ohio. ) although at first thought, I'm not sure whether it makes a difference to put the Poly to PVC underground or above. I'd also probably put that poly above the sink, then put the Poly to PVC fitting > then the shut off valve, and finally, the braided hose to the faucet..
(FWIW, I'd still use copper, but my boss is extremely old-school..).
The purpose of the extension on a frost free faucet is to get the valve itself in a heated space inside of your home so that it could never freeze (see the below diagram). If you only have an inch or so of insulation that's being penetrated by these plumbing pipes, it's likely that the valve would still reach the freezing point inside of your wall. So any type of build out on the outside of your home to mount the faucet is defeating the purpose of the extension. The proper way to use this type of faucet would be to build out something on the inside of your home, which I'm guessing isn't possible, or at least unattractive in your situation.
Therefore, I'd recommend getting in the habit of shutting off the water on the inside, possibly replacing the shutoff valve with a quarter turn ball valve so that it's quick, easy, and obvious when it's been done. You want to open the outside faucets when the water has been shut off so that the lines are empty when they do eventually freeze. After they've been left to drain for a day, I cover my outdoor faucets with insulating covers. This is also a good time to drain the hoses and bring them into a protected location (e.g. a garage or shed).

In the military, we used to make cable protectors out of 2X4's and scrapes of plywood. Simply lay the 2X4's down a few inches apart and attach small squares of plywood every few feet to keep the 2X4's spaced and parallel. run the hose and wires between the 2X4's. You could also run the narrow strip of plywood or a board the full length of the 2X4's and recess the whole thing 1 1/2 inches into the ground so it is flush, not sticking up above the ground grade. Cheap and easy.
