This is a new hardwood floor that is next to my slate stone flooring:
The cut was nice and there is about an inch gap in between:
My hardwood floor guy recommended to just leave it like that and not fill with grout.
Is it a good idea to leave it alone like that? And if so, would it get dusty and even broken at the edge over time?
If I fill with grout, would it look ugly? Maybe due to color mismatch with the old grout?
Any other idea or suggestion?

Normally when flooring changes you would use a proper transition. for example where your tile meets your other room, you will want to leave a small gap between the wood and the tile and then use a transition to cover the gap. I would guess if you have a wood floor in the middle of a tile floor you're going to have to leave an expansion gap all the way around, which will be a good place for crumbs and debris to collect.
You might be able to use silicone to fill the expansion gap, as it would be able to flex when the wood expands/contracts. I don't think I would put grout there, because it will most likely crack when the wood moves.

OK this is a lot of talk about a very minor issue.
First the issue is because you laid your first row too high (or it's slightly off level). I would also suggest going a little further out of the tub but if your tiles laid out to that width without cut I could see stopping.
Grout the gap. Anything else would be silly at the point. Also your grout color matches your tile well so should not be an issue.

That is not acceptable finished work and the hardwood floor installer should deal with it. There are many options for finishing that kind of transition and leaving a 1” gap with the subfloor exposed is NOT one of them.
