I would like to ask you if there is "if not" used in my sentence correctly. I was thought that the relevant sense of "A if not B" means something like "A or even B", where B is (in context) a stronger form of A, and the implication is that "it might well be B, but I'll only insist on A"
but this meaning does not fit into the context of the above sentence. Here the meaning should be "albeit" or "although".
