I have the book "if life's a game these are the rules". In the Epilogue, the writer said:
if you did enjoy reading this and want to improve your life, do yourself a favor and set yourself a reminder to read this book again in two months’ time.
What does "read this book again in two months’ time" mean? Does it mean "read this book over and over during two months’ time", or "two months’ time after first read, I should read this book again"
It is indeed a rhetorical use of 'catch up with': a deliberately uncommon use, which attracts readers' attention so they will read the explanation.
The author contrasts the attitude he attributes to older people—that they are slaves to “long term plans that basically take a big chunk of your soul over a long period of servitude”—with the attitude of his own generation—“Life nowadays is INDEED about the NOW!“
His “catch up” figure thus represents the long-term plans of his elders as an unceasing effort to get ‘in front of’ who they are, while people of his own generation abandon that pursuit and turn back (so ‘back is the new front’) in order to ‘catch up with’ who they are.
In my opinion, the author's wording is a little awkward, but understandable after a moment.

The verb face can be used with things that don't actually have a (human) face. The thing needs to be or have a "front" part.
So when two people stand so that their chests and shoulders face each other, the chest and shoulders are more or less parallel to one another. They look like this.
Their entire bodies are toward each other and in front of each.
Here is a different example.
Notice that their faces are facing one another, but their bodies are not. They are not positioned like the two women above. B's body is partly facing A's body, but their chests are not facing one another.
judging by wherever they are facing their chest and shoulders.
If B wanted to follow the author's advice, then B would use A's chest and shoulders to determine where he (B) should move/stand so that his body is in front of A and so that their chests are parallel. Then they would be facing each other like the women above.

Your second guess - "2 months after the first reading" - is correct.
You might have guessed this from context - "set yourself a reminder". You don't need a reminder for something you do continuously.
