I've defeated the final boss in a very cheesy way (Babarian Tank with a lot of Damage Return).
Now I have a hard time even getting some money in the castle of New Game Plus – is there some way to return to the old "easy" castle ?

Okay, I've made you a flowchart of what upgrades unlock what. It takes only 1 point in an upgrade to unlock the next ones. If there are any upgrades which have multiple requiements, this may be off. You may have to open the image to see it easily.
This are the steps to do this challenge:
- Face the opposite direction then the chest and jump up.
a) Press the
attackbutton and then quickly pressback. Repeat untill you reach the chest then open itb) Keep pressing the button for dashing to the right. You will dash right without turning around (Dash rune required!).
Note that:
You have to press
backright afterattackand that if you holdbackbutton for too long your character will change direction and face the chest which will make you fail the objectiveYou can't do this if you have Flexible Trait because that trait makes you turn around when trying this method

No, you cannot return to the original 'easy' castle.
However, if you find NG+ difficult: Equip grace runes.
Grace runes lower the level of the monsters making them easier to kill.
In the early levels of NG+ grace runes also turn the tier 2 enemies back into thier tier 1 form. This can effectively turn the castle back to it's 'easy' form for a while.
