I want to grow my pet birds whilst doing stuff in real life.
How can I be away from keyboard on Runescape for long periods of time? I have tried putting on rune armour and using air strike on a Lesser Demon in the Wizards tower but the game logs me out anyway after 10 or so minutes.

Here are some general tips:
- Only trust your closest friends
- Bring at least 1 or more people with you.
- The default for a good team is 1 ranger and 1 mage
- Always have telegrab spells ready, you never know!
- Don't eat during a fight. Chances are that while you're eating all the food will be wasted! Eat during running so the pker will have a hard time catching you, and if your smart, run south.
- Make sure to mix your teams up with mages, rangers, and warriors to balance the triangle.
- Make sure your team won't Pk you!
- Have your teleport spells ready so you wont have to run all the way back or if your really in trouble, teleport.
- Remember teleport spell restrictions are if your lower than level 20 wilderness, you can teleport any higher you're on thin ice.
- If you can't teleport run for at least 10 seconds while clicking on logout.
- If someone is running, use ranged and magic. No matter what your
level to ensure that they won't logout.
- If you're a mage or wizard, remember to use ensnare magic.
- Make a bait player, for example: Make Stupid1 run into the wilderness where there is most likely to be a Pker. When he attacks him he will have a skull making you have more spoils!
Yes. If you are skulled and in the Wilderness, you lose everything. If you are just skulled, but not in the Wilderness, you drop everything in a gravestone, which you then have a limited amount of time to return to in order to retrieve your items.
You can see what you could lose and keep when you die by bringing up the Items Kept on Death screen from the Equipment page. This will show you the items that you automatically keep (some quest items and low level items), as well as the group of items where you will be able to choose three items to keep. Again, any items dropped are stored in a gravestone for a limited amount of time.
You can then click on the What if I entered the Wilderness button to see what would happen if you died in the Wilderness. Note that both of these screens assume you are not skulled.

The game will log you out automatically after a period of time of inactivity. There's no in-game way around that.
You can use a macro to force activity, however, that method is against the rules, and has a decent chance of being detected. I do not advise, endorse, or recommend this method, and as such, I have not included links to any such macro software.
Other than that, though, there is no way to keep you logged in while AFK. Your best bet is just to be patient and let things happen during regular gameplay.
