How to completely disable StreetPass

I like StreetPass, but all the fake Mii's and cheaters (some people now build contraptions made of Knex that fake walking movement to get more playing coins, stuff like that…) pretty much force me to stop using it. :'(

I have removed all software from StreetPass Management (or whatever it's called in English) in System Settings, but it still says "StreetPass" in the HOME-menu. Now how do I completely disable it so it says "Local" again?

This must be possible since when I just had my Nintendo 3DS XL, it said "Local", until I first started up StreetPass Mii-Park.

If you have disabled Streetpass for everything on that menu, you shouldn't pick up people in those games. The Streetpass on the home screen just says you have the ability to pick it up, not necessarily that it is active, if you don't have any games or the like you have allowed to use Streetpass.

You can turn off the network stuff with the switch on the side, but if I remember correctly, that also will mean you cannot connect to the Internet, so that is something to keep in mind.

I am not sure if you can turn off the Streetpass stuff for the mii Plaza, but you can just ignore it and not use it, if it isn't something you are interested in.

How Do I activate StreetPass on 3DS Sound

To activate StreetPass for the 3DS Sound app, tap on the StreetPass button on the lower left of the touch screen. The lower part of the screen will have a button that says StreetPass Off. Tap that and then tap the On button and Confirm to turn StreetPass on.

This requires that you have at least one song in the StreetPass playlist. To achieve this, first you must put a song on your SD card from another device, such as a computer. To do this, insert your SD card into an SD card slot if your computer has one or a card reader peripheral reader otherwise. Then the SD card should appear as a drive in your computer, and you can copy files to it the same way you can with a flash drive or generally moving files around in your file system browser. The music files have to be of one of these four formats: .mp3, .m4a, .mp4, or .3gp and they have to be in a folder.

Then put the SD card back in the 3DS and open the Sound app. In the app, navigate through the folders to a song and select it. There will be a button on the bottom right that says Add..., which you can click to add the song to a playlist. Once you add a song to the StreetPass playlist, the option to activate StreetPass will become available.

There is indeed a certain order in which you receive the items, up to a point. Afterwards, you receive one of the previously awarded items randomly. The order is as follows:

First time: Nothing
Second time:  Balloon
Third time:   Balloon
Fourth time:  Pinwheel
Fifth time:   Bunny Balloon
Sixth time:   Bubble Wand
Seventh time: Heart Balloon
Eighth time:  Ice Cream
Ninth time:   Soft-serve Ice Cream
Tenth time:   Party Blower
More than ten times: Random item listed above

The color of the items you receive is random. You also can only Streetpass the same person every 8 hours to receive these gifts.
