How to execute well-timed taunt kills

I want to know if TF2 taunt kills can be done during the heat of battle.

I have looked it up TF2 wiki but I cannot find anything satisfactory. The closest thing is a YT demo of a Scout stunning a Sniper, pointing to the sky and then kill him with a bat.

Any videos of live game taunt kills would be nice.

My best advice is to predict where the enemy is going to go. For example, if an enemy was going down the vents in Turbine, you may want wait behind a bend and initiate your taunt kill, so that it will hit the enemy when he turns the corner.

One particular taunt kill I got, I saw a Soldier coming up the path. I retreated and waited behind where he was going to pop out of, and taunted.

If your goal is specifically to get a taunt kill, you may want to favor certain classes. Heavy has the fastest taunt kill, with Pyro's Hadouken slightly slower than the Heavy's.

Yes, the Amputator taunt is useful. You can use the Medi Gun to heal people individually and get your ÜberCharge up, but you can save a lot of people's lives with the Amputator taunt.

For example, if a Pyro charges at a group that you are healing one-by-one and burns a lot of them, you might not be able to extinguish everyone before they die. The Amputator taunt will help in this scenario by quickly extinguishing all your teammates at once leaving no one behind.

I personally love the Amputator because it helps a lot of people especially when there are a lot of needy people who want you all to themselves. Using the Amputator taunt you can share the love.

The range of the Heavy’s taunt kill

Community testing has found that the range at which this taunt will kill is actually pretty respectable for such a situational attack. The taunt can and will kill people who are standing the equivalent of 9 players away, of any class, from the Heavy performing the taunt in a horizontal line, or about the length of one of the storage units at Granary. The taunt's vertical range is approximately the distance between the ground level and second floor ceiling of 2Fort.
