I recently attempted to convert a spare Horadric Lutefisk Cube I found into lutefisk.
Instead of lutefisk, the cubes produced a fiery death. (I survived the initial explosion, but the fire got me the next turn. Cause of death is listed as "spell mine.")
Are there any other items (e.g. N-dimensional Lathe) which produce Fun instead of lutefisk when placed inside the cube? If so, what kinds of Fun can I obtain through fanatical devotion to the lutefisk god?
What artefact you receive is random, but giving more Lutefisk can result in extra enchantments.
Specifically, each 125 Lutefisk added to the statue for one object will grant an extra enchantment on the artefact received. So, 500 Lutefisk for an object will grant the best possible results of four extra enchantments.
Given there is a % chance of getting an artefact each time you give Lutefisk to a statue, the way to get the best possible object is to drop 500 Lutefisk in one go on to an empty statue (or whatever quantity you need to make the current total 500). As well as giving the maximum possible number of extra enchantments, this will also ensure a 100% chance of receiving an artefact.

It is effectively unlimited (except probably by how many different stats are available).
When you factor in the possible results of using an Anvil of Krong on previously enchanted objects or the (currently bugged so it adds extra enchantments in some cases) "This Translation is All Wrong!" Archaeology ability it is possible to get items with lots of enchantments.

To answer the question, no, only Lutefisk cubes have this reaction when put into another Lutefisk cube, anything else will just be skoled into lutefisk.
