My controller turns off when I press "o" or "x", then it goes to a screen that says "press the PS button to use the controller", then it comes back on after a couple of seconds.
Is there any way to stop this from happening?

Unfortunately, there isn't any way to keep the game from pausing when your controller shuts off. However, there is a way to keep the controller from turning off. Sadly, you need either a wired controller, or the Play 'n Charge Kit.
By connecting the controller via the USB port on your Xbox, it will keep the controller from powering off, allowing you to rake in the digital dough.
The best solution to this problem, honestly, is to switch from the MotionInJoy drivers to something else. I use SCPToolkit with my PS3 controller and since I switched from MotionInJoy I haven't had any problems with crashing or BSOD at all.

This probably means that this is not your 1st player controller or it's not set up as the 1st player controller. I might be able to tell you more if you tell me when this is happening.
