How to switch which weapon I am using in each slot

When you buy a new weapon it replaces whatever you were currently carrying of the same type, but I cannot seem to find a way to switch back to previous weapons.

The shops just have previous items flagged as "already owned" (or purchased, can't remember the text at the moment) and the inventory only seems to list my current selections.

Go to Monteriggioni in Mario's house.

In the room at your left, you'll find all your armors and weapons. You can get equip whichever you want here.

Some guard must have knocked the weapon out of your hand and you grabbed another weapon.

There are two ways to acquire another weapon: the first is to get one from the ground, after you have killed its owner. You must switch to Unarmed (down on the D-Pad) and press the pick-up button (Y or Triangle, IIRC).

Another is to disarm your enemy. Using Unarmed, you must perform a counter-attack (RT+X or R2+Square) when your enemy attacks you. Note that boss enemies can't be disarmed and some attacks can't be countered.

How to change weapons when using the PC keyboard

The manual states that you can use the following keys to change weapons :

1 - Throwing Knives
2 - Hidden Blade
3 - Sword
4 - Fists

If that does not work you can use Q to get the weapon selector. If you have tried all this, then maybe you have run into some of the limitations for the pistol.

According to the wiki the pistol will not work when in Secret Locations levels.
