I've been playing quite a lot of Gnar recently since I find him lots of fun, trying to take care of his passive and everything. None is left unsurprised once I jump on them in Mega form and I knock them back on the wall. I tried a couple of builds on him but I think it's always worth to try a new one.

The first item I build on him 90% of the time is Trinity Force. Phage gives me a real sweet speed to keep throwing AA's on my enemy until I proc my passive and repeat that circle again. Sheen helps me mostly in my Mega form. I use an ability, AA, another one, AA and so on. So I find Trinity Force a real strong item for him.

I never tried it so far but I'm wondering if Frozen Mallet is a viable second item to build on him considering the slow it gives to the enemy which will make it easier for me to keep up with the enemy and keep auto attacking him until I proc my passive on W and repeat that process with the speed boost I'll get.

You might tell me that I focus too much on my Mini form while in teamfights I should be mostly in my Mega form. Well, those are only the two first items. They will hopefully help me in the laning phase, take some kills and get ahead. That's my thought behind them.

I have seen on Imaqtpie's stream where he played Gnar toplane and bought the Frozen Mallet first. It gives a nice amount of tankiness too, but the item is for more situational purpose. If your team lacks crowd control I would pick that item up. Frozen Mallet is also a more succesful way to secure a kill when your jungler comes to gank and vice versa, to escape more easily when the enemy jungler ganks. Since the slow also applies on ranged attacks, I think it's an excellent item for Gnar (I would recommend not building Trinity Force if you choose to go for Frozen Mallet).

To answer your questions:

In your build I would take Warmog's Armor or Guardian Angel as the last item.
I think Infinity Edge is better since it works well with Atma's Impaler

However, you cannot think like that. There is no build which is generally good. Sometimes it is better to get this item othertimes that item.

If you want a general build for Yorick I would go for this one:

Boots of Speed + 3 or 4 health pots (4 pots - when solo top, wait near the fountain and buy 4th pot ASAP)
Tear of the Goddess => Manamune
probably Mercury Treads unless they have a heavy ad team, then I would go for Ninja Tabi
straight for Atma's Impaler
Warmog's Armor (tankier build) or Frozzen Mallet (better chasing)
The other one of the previously mentioned items or the new item Maw of Malmortius
Trinity Force (damage) / Guardian Angel (tanky build) / Infinity Edge (in case I have Frozen Mallet)

In case of a need I would upgrade boots before finishing Manamune, but after Tear of the Goddess. If I woudlnt be doing very well I would also get Wriggle's Lantern after Manamune or even before that and Spirit Visage, but those are items you want to sell in late game.

Early boots upgrade and Atma will give you enough resists and in combination with Manamune you will have circa 250 AD.

Finally, I think that Yorick is better with a tankier build rather than AD.

Ad NOTE: I think Nasus benefits more from a far different build. Urgot is also good with Manamune and Atma, but before Atma he really needs Brutaliser and after Atma it is better to go different items. You can also build Frozen Heart before Atma which makes you even tankier and gives you some damage, too (since you have Manamune).

I generally max my W first for three reasons:

Harass
Buffing teammates
Stacking my passive

The reason I get it to harass, is because you can shoot your opposing lanemate through his minions, and it makes it slightly harder for him to farm with that debuff.

The buff it provides your teammates when pushing towers down is paltry at best if you max it second. Maxing it first, however, means that it will be Lv 4-5 by the time your towers are going down. Its a very good utility spell for the team!

His W makes stacking his passive extremely easy early game. If your support is doing it right, you can get 2-3 stacks on your passive with just one W! That means you're able to harass or farm at a +30% rate over your opponent BEFORE taking into account the debuff placed on him by said W.

Sure its not nearly as spammable as his Q, but you use less mana when harassing for slightly less damage, but the ability to harass through minions where he thinks he's safe from your wrath. Besides, the buff/debuff (damage too!) scales well with levels, whereas the Q only scales damage (the CDR doesn't scale at all, so why bother maxing it first?) and isn't as useful early game (in my opinion).
