Minecraft – How to get functions to work in Minecraft

I'm in the Minecraft snapshot 1.12-pre6, and I'm trying to get Functions to work. Within my functions folder, I have a folder called "func" and then a function called test.mcfunction. Yet when I go ingame and type function func:test it says that the function is non existent. What am I doing wrong?

Edit: I did type /reload ingame.

I don't know why, but functions only work in prerelease 1. They don't even work in the finished update. You'll have to switch to prerelease 1 to use them.

Attempt to launch the jar with a batch file.

This can be created by opening notepad and typing the following,

java -Xmx2G -Xms2G -jar minecraft_server.1.7.4.jar -o true
pause

Save this file as launcher.bat, and store it in the same directory as your jar file.

You wrote "tag:" instead of "tag=", that doesn't work. And it's also the reason why the page here formatted it into a tag for this site.

Yes, functions have better performance and you don't need command blocks at all anymore, except if you want to activate them using redstone (like a button).

Function do not abort on error, so that can't be the reason why the last commands don't seem to work. Maybe a missing /reload?
