I have two cave spider spawners that are very close to each other, so I'm trying to make a trap for them.

I have all the spiders funnel into a 1×1 vertical tube, that's 3 high, with an iron bar on the bottom.

But, the spiders get into the tube, and hang at the top, with one going to the bottom.

Is there a design with the current AI, that gets the spiders to bunch up?

Spiders require a different grinder design than most mobs, as they can climb walls. The path they take from the spawn rooms to the actual grinder cannot go down, it must always flow either level or upwards. Water should be used to push them along to the end. Here is an excellent tutorial on making a dual cave spider grinder, which I have personally used to great effect.

put a slab on the square you are standing on and leave a 1 square gap in the direction the water is flowing from (use glass if you want to be able to see what's coming). The slab will prevent anything from being pushed through but you will automatically pick up the items as they approach.

The chickens won't be able to move into where you are due to the half slab keeping them in the water tile beneath the glass.

Minecraft – way to change the difficulty setting of a saved Minecraft game

Minecraft's difficulty setting is an option; it's not reliant on your saved game.

When you load Minecraft and you're presented with the options to load Singleplayer or Multiplayer, click on Options.... Then, click on the Difficulty option until it cycles back to "Peaceful".

When you load your world, all the hostile monsters will disappear. If you later want to increase the difficulty, do the same thing, but cycle the difficulty to "Easy" or higher.

You can also do this after the world is loaded by pressing Esc to pause the game and clicking on Options... When setting the difficulty to "Peaceful" in-game, hostile mobs will instantly disappear when you return.
