Minecraft Java Edition Commands – How to Target All Mobs Except Player in 5 Block Radius

I tried using this command to give every entity in a 5 block radius

[/effect @e[r=5, type=!player] minecraft:levitation 10 1 true].

I expect player levitation, but it doesn't work.

You had a space in there that you shouldn't have here is the fixed command

/effect @e[r=5,type=!player] minecraft:levitation 10 1 true

@p targets the closest player so will only find 1 player each time, even if more are within the radius you have given.

@a targets all players with the arguments given, so should work for either of the methods you are trying.

You can't use two [] next to each other.

/testfor @p[r=5,name=<PlayerName>]

Use a comma to separate different values. Don't add another [] next to it.
