This is a highly talked about question, so I would like answers from people who know how to fix this or people who at least think they know what to do. So I enter a brand new game of survival Minecraft with cheats OFF. The first thing I do is try to get some wood. But when I try to break it, it just reappears. It doesn't give me the block for about 5-8 seconds. It seems to have gotten worse. And the mobs are slow. I try to kill a pig and it floats in the air for a few seconds, then they fall to the ground and I hit them again. It takes ages to kill mobs, and sometimes they are impossible to kill. This started about when the first or second snapshot for 1.13 came out and seems to have gotten worse over time. I don't want to play on an older version because I want to play in 1.13. What do I do?

Update: According to Notch's blog post about changes coming in 1.6, the torches-on-fast-leaves bug is getting fixed:
- Fixed buttons and levers being placeable on leaves in “fast graphics” mode
This means that monsters can no longer spawn on leaves, either, as they are always considered transparent, even when using Fast graphics.
Monsters can spawn on any solid, non-transparent block which is at light level 7 or lower.
Signs, torches, rails, and the like are ignored when spawning monsters; they'll spawn on the block underneath just fine. This is why one-block-wide railways need to be lit.
Transparency means whether or not light passes through a block rather than whether you can see through it. Half-blocks, doors, stairs, and glass all count as transparent and prevent monster spawning. Leaves, oddly, count as transparent only when Fancy graphics are enabled. An easy way to test a block for transparency is to try placing a torch or sign on it — neither can be placed on transparent blocks. (Meaning that torches can be placed on leaves with Fast graphics, but not with Fancy.)
Torches put out light level 14, so monsters can't spawn within 5 blocks of a torch orthogonally or 3 blocks diagonally. If you put your torches in a diamond pattern, they can be up to 9 blocks apart, but it's best to move them closer than that on uneven terrain. (I use 5 myself.)
If you like, you can actually torch your treetops by changing your graphics to Fast, placing the torches, and switching back. Your torches will stay rooted, even though you wouldn't normally be able to place them that way. Personally, I think it makes them look rather cheerful. :-)
Sounds like the game rule forgiveDeadPlayers
is set to false
. Try changing it to true
, then your wolves should stop attacking your friend when he respawns.
Edit: Nevermind, that game rule didn't exist back then. If you didn't update to 1.16, there's nothing you can do about angered mobs ignoring death and respawn. 1.15 and earlier just does that.

This is basically in-game lag. Your system doesn't have enough resources to run your game efficiently. You can solve this by trying several things:
Reduce the strain on your system resources, by lowering the in-game performance:
Increase your RAM allowance for Mineraft (if you have the available resources). This is one of the most likely causes for in-game lag.
Close other programs. People who record their gaming are one of the biggest victims for this, since recording requires a lot of RAM as well. If you have a lot of other things open at the same time, they will all be using your PC's RAM, which means Minecraft suffers.
