Not sure how to word the title of this question. The picture below shows what I'm talking about:
As you can see the fronts of the machines are black. This happens with all thermal expansion machines, including the autonomous activator and terrain smasher I have downstairs. In NEI, the small icons of the machines look perfectly normal. Also, in the machine configuration the centre square is black; clicking on it has no effect. What's going on here? I'm using the yogscast complete pack.
I am getting consistent results that machines left in the rain or left on fire from a rainstorm will explode, given enough time.
It's not instant; it can take a couple minutes. But eventually, your machine will blow up.
I just tested this in peaceful mode, to see if there was any change, and it appears that difficulty has nothing to do with it. In fact, it doesn't even need to be powered. It still eventually caught fire and blew up.
After starting a brand new world, a total fluke left me with the solution. In my new world, I had placed a lever next to a redstone engine, but on top of an LV transformer. As it turns out, when you apply a redstone current to a transformer, it prevents the flow of electricity. Sure enough, when I loaded my old world, I found a lever on a centrifuge extractor (which was on top of the LV transformer) and was therefore preventing the flow of electricity.

It could be an error with the texture pack. Does it do this with the vanilla textures?
If the vanilla textures work fine, then you need to re-download the additional texture packs. I'd delete them by moving or renaming the folders your mod loader uses, then put back all the worlds, saves and important config files after the launcher re-initializes the files. You might want to try running the game before you put your files back, in case that re-introduces the problem.
