It is widely known that by powering a piston diagonally or two blocks above it will make it a bud. But apart from pistons, what other blocks can be used as BUDs?

All you need are properly calibrated repeaters (4 ticks each), a "short-cut" for the door pistons and an inverter on one of the system parts.
I am not sure if I understood correctly, but you can use a sticky piston under the pressure plate to cut off a wire that powers the other three pistons:
And with the pressure plate 'on':
You can power the side pistons with repeaters, if you want the ground to be flat.

A block powered diagonally or two blocks above it is commonly referred to as being BUD-powered. Blocks that can be BUD-powered are:
When powered like that they do not react until they are updated - only then they realize they are being powered. This makes it possible to create 'block update detectors' (BUD) using these blocks.
