Minecraft(on MAC) has Hotbar Scrolling issue

I have Minecraft installed on my new Mac but there is an issue with the scrolling in the Hotbar. I have to scroll multiple times just to move forward one slot. I used to play Minecraft on Windows but this issue never happened.

I have increased the scroll speed and tracking speed but to no change. Is there any way to fix this? Or is it a compatibility issue?

This is likely a mis-communication in the driver or the way that Java is handling the input. Althought that itself cannot be fixed, there is a very simple workaround. Inside of your Minecraft installation folder (see this post as to how to access that), open the options.txt file.

You should see a line that looks like the following, about halfway down the file:

...
mouseWheelSensitivity:1.0
...

That value can handle any double type number from 1-100. It will be different for everyone, so adjust that value up from 1.0 until you have the desired result.

Note that you will have to restart minecraft for the changes you make in the options file to take effect.

Assuming you are running Windows Vista/7. The procedure would work for other versions of Windows but the PATHs will be different.

Create a folder named C:\Users\Public\Minecraft
Download the Minecraft.exe file and save it into that folder
Create a batch file named start-minecraft.bat (or whatever you want) and save it on your desktop or wherever you want to click to start Minecraft
The contents of the batch file should be

start-minecraft.bat

@echo off
:: set the app data to be a path that doesn't break minecraft
set APPDATA=%PUBLIC%\Minecraft
:: start up minecraft
%PUBLIC%\Minecraft\Minecraft.exe

Basically we just need to set the APPDATA variable to a directory that Minecraft will consider to be valid.

P.S. This same procedure can be used to keep multilpe different versions of Minecraft installed. Just create a different folder for each version, and update the APPDATA variable to reflect that.

Well, just a guess. Did you need to reconfigure your User after the re-installation?

Microsoft isn't that tidy if they say "re-install". In some cases, user profiles will be migrated to "help" the user after the re-installation. In this case, it might be that your Roaming Profile is still present but uses older files.

You may want to search for it in C:\Users\<yourUsername>\AppData\Roaming (assuming your Windows and your profiles are installed on C:). There will be a folder called minecraft. Don't delete it, just rename it to minecraft_bak. Retry to open your Minecraft. Maybe you'll need to reinstall Minecraft and try it again. The folder will be recreated. But if this doesn't help, you have your original Minecraft folder still as a backup.

It might be, that Minecraft has some version issues to to your Roaming Profile and your fresh Minecraft installation.
