In Hay Day, I no longer get tickets. My daughter still gets them, but I stopped getting tickets and diamonds when I started buying diamonds. How can I fix this issue, and how else can I get diamonds for free?

Friends can help the player fulfilling their boat orders, buying their items at their roadside shop, reviving their trees and bushes and also by (indirectly) give the player random mystery boxes when the player visits their farm. Friends can give the player items that the player is low or empty on. By adding friends, the player increase their roadside shop space and gain new spaces to sell goods from.

Likewise, the player can help both their friends and unknown players. Helping friends gives benefits for the player as well as for them. For example, by fulfilling boat orders the player gains money and experience, while the person they helped gets a step closer to stocking a boat full. Helping other players is the only way to acquire gift cards, which can then be used to buy packages using the catalogue.

You automatically have one friend when you start the game, an NPC named Greg. You can also add more friends through Facebook if your friends dont mind app request notifications!

According to the Hay Day wikia it was to celebrate their birthday:
On July 10, 2013 (and the following year), to celebrate Hay Day's birthday, all animals were updated with new summer clothes and appearances. For the chicken, it's updated appearance includes a blue snorkel mask. On Oct 16, 2013, the chickens had carved, smiling pumpkins attached to their bodies for Halloween.
It is also in the update logs(v1.11.47):
- Summer Theme: Your farm animals love the summer! How do you like their fun and exciting new looks? All your favorite farm animals in sun glasses, snorkels and Hawaiian shirts!
In the next update, it was removed:
End of summer:
- Reverted the summer clothing from the farm animals
- Removed the exclusive summer decorations from the shop
- Reverted the happy birthday loading screen back to normal
So you will not be able to bring it back, as it was a game update.

Other than tickets, these are the ways to get free diamonds:
Chests - These show up randomly around your farm, the ocean next to your town, and other people's farms. Sometimes they are locked, and sometimes they provide up to 8 diamonds for free.
Derby Rewards - If you complete enough derby tasks to gain a horseshoe for your neighborhood there is a chance that you can get diamonds as an option for your reward.
The Mine - Occasionally, excavating ores from the mine will grant you a diamond in addition.
New Fish - This is the only reliable way to get free diamonds besides the movie ticket, though the supply is limited. Every time you catch a new type of fish with a lure (or a new size of a fish you've caught previously), you can visit the fishing shack to look at the book of the fish you've caught. Tapping on the picture for any new fish will grant you up to three diamonds.
Mid-level Thresholds - You get a random reward for reaching 25%, 50%, and 75% of the XP you need to level up, and that random reward is sometimes diamonds.
