In the Temple of Hylia, there's a room behind the Bird save statue that has a mound, and a few items to help you recover. Besides giving you some life hearts, is there anything else you can do in this room? The light coming from above seems like it would have some sort of meaning.

Open up the gear menu with "1", and you'll see an interface button near the bottom left area of the screen. It should have "Standard" on it. Set it to "Pro" to remove the button layout.

You're supposed to make it dizzy by rotating your sword in a circle (not a spin attack). Do it quickly, but not too quickly—if you go too fast, you'll start doing random swings, which won't work.
For the eyes that appear later in the temple, you need to have all of the eyes in a given room look at you at the same time in order to get past them. If not all of the eyes are open, they won't get dizzy and die no matter how fast you rotate your sword.

Yes, this room has a use.
To keep spoilers at a minimum, it is part of the quest to find the Thunder Dragon and learn Nayru's part of the Ballad of the Hero.
