I'm replaying the original Half-Life on Steam. I seem to remember there being Aperture Science logos on the laser equipment that you pass on the way down to the containment chamber at the start of the game.
However they no longer appear to be there. Am I just mis-remembering or did Valve remove them from the Steam version at some point?
Where are the Aperture Science logos in Half-Life?
Position yourself towards the corridor with the hanging cables that are electrified. Behind you is a locked room with some scientists which you want to enter.
Turn towards the electricity. On the bottom of the right wall is a ventilation duct. Enter the duct and go to the right. You will enter the locked room. Watch out for the hidden barnacles. On the opposite side of the room to the right is a door, inside is a switch that will disable the power for that part of the map.
According to the Half life wiki page on Fire Extinguishers, fire extinguishers in the original Half Life were not usable items (emphasis mine):
The Fire Extinguisher is an item (used as a weapon game-wise) cut from Half-Life 2. It can be found in the playable Half-Life 2 Beta. It first appeared in Half-Life as an unusable item.
However, just because it is unusable does not mean it does not serve any function. As you mentioned in your question, when damaged they can explode, causing cold damage to anything close to them. I could not find any sources confirming this, but I do know from my own playing that at the very least this explosion will damage you as the player (though I do not know if it will also damage enemies as well - I don't remember a time when there were enemies around I could attempt to damage using the wall-mounted fire extinguisher).

I can't remember encountering the name or logo at any point in the first Half-Life, nor any (unused) texture in the Hammer Editor referencing it (I rechecked to be sure).
According to the Fandom wiki entry on Aperture Science, there is no appearance in Half-Life.
