I've been constructing a space station, and up to this point, I've been using autonomous launch vehicles to put unmanned sections into orbit. But now it's time to have a permanent presence in orbit.
I've just docked my first crew transfer vehicle to the station hub, and now I want to transfer the crew to one of the Hitchhiker pods, but they don't want to seem to go through the docking ports I conveniently placed.
How can I move them onto the station without taking them on an EVA?
state in save file, Acquired state on port might prevent it from docking (bug). Changing it back to Ready should fix it. Example of this operation can be found in famous Duna, Ore Bust!If you have problems to find part entry in save file, which is very probable as it is big and ugly, try following check-list:
Note: do not use quicksave.sfs for manual repairs as game can overwrite it suddenly. Other than that, it is safe to perform repairs with game running in background.
Example of reinforcing structure with KAS/KIS:
Rover loaded to cargo bay, however without any safety locks it will be destroyed during takeoff. Fuel pipe will be used first as it will merge ships into single entity (for some reason struts can't do that). Then struts will secure rover in place.
After mounting hard points on cargo bay wall and on rover itself Kerbal can connect them with pipes and struts.

Yep, you can! That's usually how I get the transfer milestones. One thing to consider: Depending on how it checks for the transfer, the rescue target combination might not work.

As of the latest version (.18), the ability to transfer crew via docking ports has not been implemented. Fuel can be transferred without a problem, but crew, unfortunately, require EVA to populate the habitation modules.
