PSP – How to Connect Generic USB Game Controllers to a PSP 3000
psp
There seems to be a way to connect a controller to the PSP through its USB port, like shown in the picture below of a "DOSO PSW-303".
Is there a way to do something similar that works with any generic USB controller?

From my findings, connecting a generic USB controller to a PSP through its USB port requires a master intermediary device, since the PSP can only function as a slave USB device, as shown below:
The intermediary device in question can either be a USB-compatible microcontroller (link #1, 2008, "gr8npwrfl"), or a PC (link #2, 2010, "ThirdSeason").
The PSP also must be loaded with custom firmware for such an idea to work.
1) Not to my knowledge as it currently stands unless the game ALSO states its playable on the PS3
2) I assume you want to hook the PSP up to the PS3 to play the PSP game on the PS3 with the PS3 controller, This is also a No (You can remote in to a PS3 and play games on the PS3 that stream to your PSP... But I so far only have done this with games I have purchased digitally like Wild Arms 3)
3) The Slim PSPs (rev 2000, 3000) have a cable you can buy that allows you to play the games on a TV (Go search Amazon.com and Id suggest the Sony cables).
I don't think the first gen can do it but all others should be able to. There is a setting in the Settings menu for USB Charge, so first you need to make sure that's on. Not sure on the effects on battery life, but it should be the same as any other forms of charging.
