What changes were made for Homeworld & Homeworld 2 remastered when compared to the original releases?
Specifically, have there been any gameplay changes? The changes to the user interface and graphics are easy to see.

According to this guy,
- PC has better textures and allows to zoom in closer,
- PC loads faster,
- when playing with a mouse you have minor conveniences like hovering on top of aliens-in-view icons to see hit percentages (I'm playing with a mouse and I've never knew it).
- Important: multiplayer is not cross-platform, so you better follow your friends.
Reviewer explicitly states that he felt no tactical performance gain on any platform.
Tactical view grid should also be classified as a minor convenience - after some hours, you'll be easily telling distances at a glance.
Retiring ships commands them to be deconstructed and credit you with some RUs. It's like recycling them, so the resources can be used to create something else. This is exactly the same behavior as in the original Homeworld.
From the Homeworld one manual:
Bring up the right click menu and select the Retire command. Ships given the Retire order will return to the nearest Mothership or Carrier and be scrapped. A percentage of the construction cost (in RUs) will be recovered. OR: Press the [I] key once you have selected the ship(s) you wish to retire.
From the Homeworld 2 manual:
This is not 100% of the construction cost. I understand it's approximately 80% of the construction cost.

I know that you don't have to pick up all the resources at the end of a level (if you wanted to max resources that is) in HW1 anymore as they are auto-collected. Great time saver imo.
