What team/weapon makeup should I use from Chapter 11 on

I can't decide on the team I want to go with from chapter 11 and forward.

I hate Hope and Snow so I do not want them in my party.

I love Sazh as a SYN and he's the only cool male character in the story, so I would like to include him and buy him flowers.

Which two ladies should I pick to keep him company?

And once that's decided: what roles and weapons would then be best suited for that party?

So… after some more research I think I have decided:

Fang as COM/SEN/RAV with Taming Pole for COM
Vanille as MED/SAB/RAV with Healer's Staff for MED (and possibly Belladonna Wand for SAB later on)
Sazh as SYN/COM/RAV probably with Spica for SYN (but suggestions are welcome)

How's that?

Leader: Fang (anything will do, as long as it is not the stagger lock weapon)

Companion 1: Lightning (I like lifesaber)

Companion 2: Vanille/Hope (Vanille's staff for debuffing (Belladonna Wand or upgrades thereof))

If you really want to use Sazh, then I recommend you replace Lightning for him.

Paradigm: Com/rav/rav
          sab/med/sab(or syn)
          com/com/rav
          def(or com)/med/med
Consider: def/def/def
          sab/syn/syn(or sab)

You will want to change the team sometimes for missions, but that's another tale. With that team you should be able to emerge victorious (it was my setup when I killed the final boss).

Concidering Orphans first form, this is to a large extend a matter of staying alive. Be prepared to always heal and debuff the party completely, since a weakened party can be wiped out by a single attack (so you should bring MED/MED/SEN or even MED/MED/MED). To bring down Orphan, I found poison very helpful. In fact, when I was fighting Orphan, it perished almost unoticed by me due to the poison while I was panicking to keep the party alive. Also, I found it almost impossible to stagger Orphan since its stagger bar was constantly resetting.

On the other hand, its second form was much easier. While it seems invulnerable in normal state, once staggered, it takes heavy damage. The key is to hex Orphan while building up stagger as fast as possible, and then hit hard. Rinse and repeat, and you are done.

With respect to your question about leveling on Gran Pulse, you can always leave the Narthex through the portal behind you which will send you to the portals in the Cradle. From there, you may move freely between Gran Pulse, Eden, or the Narthex. However, I didn't find it necessary to level up at this point of the game. (Your Crystarium should already be almost maxed out on the Characters core disciplines anyway.) Success in FF XIII is much more a question of the right strategy.

I went with the Death strategy featuring Vanille as leader.

Death has a low chance of doing an instant kill (15%) but this gets higher if you use Vanille's Malboro staff (improved debuf).

This tactic involves luck but is the easiest way. My recommended setup is:

Vanille/Hope/Lightning
Sab/Med/Med <-- start in this one.
Sen/Sen/Sen
Rav/Rav/Com

As mentioned in the post, go to Sentinel only if Screech is used, otherwise stay in the first paradigm and keep casting death manually.

Use the third paradigm to kill the other mobs.
