My question is that if I buy warlords of Draenor Standard Edition as mentioned here:

Does this pack include download of a WOD client? Or do I have to explicitly buy client?

Wow and its expansions are registered to your Blizzard Battle.Net account. If you ever lose your disc, you can simply download the WoW downloader from Battle.Net's website, which will in turn download the game and the appropriate expansions.
If you purchase the game digitally, then you must download the game. Regardless of which expansions you purchase, the entire game client will be downloaded (your account type will restrict which areas you can visit, what level you can reach etc).

If you don't want to download the entire game, you can buy it physically from retail stores (online or high street), and install from the discs. However, due to the nature of the game, you will need to download patches which will still be in excess of a couple of gigabytes of data.
As far as I know, each WoW game comes with free trial periods of game time, but you will need to set up a subscription in order to keep playing.

As noted, you do not need to buy the client separately. It can be downloaded for free with the battle.net application. An important distinction, however, is that Warlords of Draenor is NOT standalone: you must own the base game (World of Warcraft, located here on Blizzard's store: https://eu.battle.net/shop/en-us/product/world-of-warcraft ) to play it. There is a required monthly subscription fee, although starting today it is possible to buy game time via gold (the game's currency, and this service is only available in the USA as of this post).
