I have my Playstation 3 setup to turn the TV on when the games console turns on, this is really handy.
I've been searching through my XBOX One's options and can't seem to find this option, does it exist?

I couldn't find anything about this, so I asked @XboxSupport. Sounds like the only way to eject the disc is with the button currently:

If the Kinect is disconnected from the XBox One, is the console still usable? (Does unplugging the Kinect render the console inoperable?)
- No, your Xbox One will still function properly (just without the features the kinect uses (voice commands, facial recognition, etc)). I set mine up initially without the kinect connected. You will just see a symbal in the top right corner of your screen saying that your kinect is disconnected.
Is it possible to turn off of disable the Kinect, or is it always on when it's connected.
A buddy of mine says that some sports games assess in game penalties if the Kinect hears swear words. Is he pulling my leg, or is this a real thing?
- Yes, but not necessarily all games as that is up to the game developer / game settings. Source & video of this.

Yes, the Xbox One can turn on TV and even your sound system when you turn on the system.
You can see how to do it directly on Xbox support site
When you first go to the TV app it will automatically launch setup, just follow the on screen instructions and you will be all set.
If you skipped the setup or want to do it differently you can go to settings->TV & OneGuide->Devices and set it all up there as well.
If you wish to use voice commands to control your TV, Kinect will be needed. Otherwise the controller and/or smartglass can do it.
