The scenario is we have one threshold value if that threshold value is less than or equal to 10 and the vertical is equal to "A" then it should approve by the chief(user P) only and if the threshold value is greater than 10 and vertical equals "A" then it should first approve by the chief(user P) then it goes to the approval of the CEO(user Q) up to this the approval process working fine but now I need setup same for the vertical B and for the different approvers (users R and S). Can I set up this in a single approval process. I have tried it in a single approval process but it is not working. Any help on this would be appreciated!

I wrote a tutorial on using an Apex trigger to Dynamically assign an approval that might be helpful for you
essentially, you must create a custom field on the object you want to be approved, then use an initial submission action on your approval process to modify that field.
Because the initial submitting action fires before the record is locked, it will allow the trigger to run apex code to set a special field on the record owner's user record.
That field can then be used for the approver.
Sounds complicated but it's really not. See the link below for full code samples as well as a video showing step by step how to set this up. There is code for a full working example. The solution is mostly config plus some simple trigger logic.

If you select go to next step in the first step and the record does not meet the criteria for any of the steps in the approval process, the record is rejected.
Suggested solution:
Create two approval processes.
- First with entry criteria for picklist equals A, B with two steps.
- Second with entry criteria for picklist not equals A, B with one step.

I'd recommend using two separate approval processes with separate entry criteria; i.e. one for vertical "A" and one for vertical "B" (you may need to consider a catch-all if not "A" or "B"?). The logic in the approval processes themselves would be largely similar (other than the approvers).
