[SalesForce] How to use DescribeSObjectResult to fetch SObject field information

I have a requirement where I've to fetch all 10 fields of a custom Object My_Object__c and store it in a Map<String, String> labelMap // 1st string is the label and 2nd string is the Field Name

I know by using DescribeSObjectResult we can fecth all Sobject and it's field information.

But, how will I implement that ?

You can do it like this:

Map<String, String> labelMap = new Map<String, String>();
Schema.DescribeSObjectResult objectDescribe  = My_Object__c.SObjectType.getDescribe();
Map<String, Schema.SObjectField> fieldMap = objectDescribe.fields.getMap();
for( String fieldName : fieldMap.keySet() ) {
    Schema.SObjectField field = fieldMap.get( fieldName );
    Schema.DescribeFieldResult fieldDescribe = field.getDescribe();
    labelMap.put(fieldDescribe.getLabel(), fieldDescribe.getName() );
}

This is possible by pulling the describe information for all fields on the object, and then running over each entry, calling getLabel() and comparing it with the value you have.

Map<String, Schema.SObjectField> M = Schema.SObjectType.Account.fields.getMap();

for(String key : M.KeySet())
{
  if(testLabel == M.get(key).getDescribe().getLabel())
  {
    // key might be the API name of the field you want
  }
}

You'll notice I said might in the comment. That's because not only can labels be changed at any time, but it's also possible to have two fields with the same label. For the latter reason alone I'd highly recommend looking for an alternative way to deal with fields in your application.

If the user is choosing a label from a picklist, maybe make the values the API names of the fields. These are always going to be unique and therefore less error prone.

  Map<String,Schema.SObjectType> gd = Schema.getGlobalDescribe();
                    Schema.SObjectType sobjType = gd.get(Field);
                    Schema.DescribeSObjectResult r = sobjType.getDescribe();
                    Map<String,Schema.SObjectField> M = r.fields.getMap();
                    fieldMap=M;
