As far as I'm aware you're correct. Every hit counts as an impression.
The monitoring team in Marketing Cloud will shut down a page if it's been accessed suspiciously. I know of a case with a large Australian client where they had a competition page that was shut down by the monitoring team because too many people were hitting the page; the monitoring team thought it was suspicious.
I'm not 100% sure if this is something they still do or if it's a guarantee.
There is an 'Email Performance by Device' report available, but you will need to have Discover enabled on your account (which is included in corporate and enterprise editions). However, this provides limited analytics and you can only filter by date (not send).
The best method would be to add Litmus tracking code to your emails, which enables you to see a breakdown by client, and also how much time they spent reading your emails. Refer to screenshot below. You can sign up for a free trial at litmus.com.

I am a bit late to the party but wanted to provide some information on a report that an AE can access in Org62:
Have them go to Entitlements, select Super Messages, and then click “Entitlement Schedules” to bring it up. They’ll probably have to click to view as many records as they can in order to get all the way to the beginning of the term. In that screen they click "Printable View,” and then once within the print functionality they can save as a PDF. See below. Most AEs have no idea this even exists.
