I am planning to buy a tempered glass. it is 66*36*1/4 inch thick. I am planning to put it on a 0.25 inch thick*48 inch*36 inch metal table that I have. The table is 36 inch high. There wont be any center support.
I have added image of my table. As you can see it has a metal rectangle frame that is 0.25 inch thick
Do you think it is a safe design?
Suction cups are used with success in this situation. Search for "glass table suction cups". The cups have a small cylindrical nub that sits in a hole you will have to drill for each cup. You should only need about four. With the suction cups, the table would be secure, would have some (minimal) give when struck, and would be easy to replace.
1/4" tempered glass should be fine. It's considerably stronger than the same thickness of normal glass, and also much safer in the event that you do manage to break it.
LED (or any other light source) into a glass sheet is normally injected at the edges (the LEDs being built into the table frame) - but it may not be all that exciting on a clear glass sheet (the ones you linked to were heavily textured - it needs to at least be frosted on one side for much light to get out.)

Definitely not! Unsupported ends & center is a big no-no. Support means that it won't bend AT ALL. Why? Because glass doesn't bend...for long.
