I am playing with Japan , it's very early, no Patheons, I discovered a natural wonder but it's nowhere near… and I just see I have +2.3 faith or so per turn. I wasn't paying attention when it started :/ What causes this?

As of the "Civilization VI Fall 2016 Update", this is now viewable by default.
At launch, in the base game, there was no way to see when or where the next border expansion will take place.
Based on multiple posts in this thread, it looks like the border expansion formula has been found in the XML files:
- tiles are obtained with culture produced by the city
- the culture cost of a tile is 10+(6*n)^1.3 (where n is the number of tiles obtained by culture already...not sure if gold bought ones count)

As @kl78 rightly points out, the reason for my unusually high faith income was because I had contacted Yerevan, a Faith-Based City State.
