DOSbox CDROM drive permissions issue

I am currently trying to play Capitalism from a CD, on DOSBox 0.74, on Windows 10.

I mount the C: drive with:

MOUNT C C:\DOSC

Where DOSC is a Directory in my Windows 10 C: drive. I also mount my LG removable CD-ROM drive with:

MOUNT D E:\ -t cdrom

Where E is the CD drive in windows 10.

However, whenever I try to install from the CD, it says it does not have proper permissions within DOSBox to copy the executable to the C: drive. I have tried changing the permissions of both the DOSbox application, and the folders it interacts with on my hard drive. But, I can not figure out how to change the permissions for the CD drive itself, which may be the cause. A solution to that, or any other solution, is appreciated.

Have you tried copying the contents of the CD-ROM to a folder on your hard drive and mounting that instead? Not a solution per-se but a possible work around?

Not 100% sure this is the problem, but autolock often causes mouse issues in DOSBox. So try setting it to the opposite of whatever it currently is:

In your dosbox.conf file, look for a line setting autolock=false and remove the line (or change the false to true).
Or, if no line with autolock exists, add one with autolock=false.

I'm going to try to answer generally, since I don't have this game.

Some games expect you to have C:\ since probably 99% of Windows/DOS installations use that as their main drive. So try (for example):

mount C /home/user/oldgames

And then run the installer and try installing it under C.

If your path is something like /media/external then it could be that the drive is too big, and the installer thinks the drive size is a negative value or something due to integer overflow. In that case you could try making a small partition and using that instead. This is assuming DOSBox uses the max available size. You can specify a size (in MB) like so:

mount C /path/to/whatever -freesize 1024
