For average skill games with low warding and no counterwards,you should focus mainly on red dots especially 2 hills near the runes with the priority of upper one in early game and lower one later when killing roshan becomes more likely.
- Having at least one ward near the rune will eliminate the chance of going the wrong side when timing runes
- the hills will give you more vision than placing wards on the ground
- easily prevent ganks since the river is most common way for ganking
- seeing enemy team attacking roshan is huge advantage
- also it reveals path near secret shop and neutral camp
Wards should be placed as early as it gets and replaced just a bit before they expire(you can see the timer),it is the best if you can go grab a rune and place new ward at the same time so you don't lose much "lane time",if it is on opposite lane you could port there and combine it with a gank or push attempt.
There are 2 types of wards Observer wards and Sentry wards the ones you need are observer ones the other is used to reveal invisible enemies and is placed directly on the line near combat(pink)

You can't simply reset your battle points. You could make new steam account,but if you already bought some other games on steam that is not a valid solution.
Dota 2 doesn't match you with other players based on your battlepoints or played games at all since it wouldn't be so fair to people just getting started. Simply put it works primarily on your Win/Lose ratio. Here is official detailed matchmaking guide if you want to see exactly how it matches players together.
So resetting your battlepoints isn't some solution,it would last shortly and once again you would get back with the same crowd. U can usually feel when you get teamed with better players but after some time of terrible games you should fall back with noobs and win some games.

Although you are not supposed to get an abandon from a custom bot game (what I assume you are referring to), there is a common glitch that can happen to new players who have't played many pub (public) matches. This glitch results in showing bot games that are left early as abandons and will not put you in low priority but will give you more abandon percentage. There is no solution to this glitch but if are playing offline or you play more pub games then the problem will most likely solve itself at some point. However, if you are just asking if you will get abandons from leaving bot games early, then technically, no.
