What does it mean when they say "patch terran"? I am looking to understand what the term means.

Patch terran/zerg/protoss is a derogatory term for somebody who is only good/successful because in the current state of the balance (patch) his race is too strong.

Supposedly this player's success will quickly fade once the game has been "fixed"/balanced.

Ping is the amount of milliseconds it takes a packet of information to reach the server from you and back. Basically it's a measurement of connection speed, and it influences lag quite a lot.

According to pingtest.net:

[Ping] tells how long it takes a "packet" of data to travel from your computer to a server on the Internet and back. Whenever you experience delayed responses in Internet applications - this would be due to a higher than desired ping. Similar to packet loss, lower is better when it comes to ping. Starcraft – Since patch 1.1, are Hydras more viable against Terran

I think Idra said it best:

The tank's damage was also changed from 50 to 35+15 vs armored, but this is essentially irrelevant in ZvT, they will now kill hydras in 3 shots instead of 2, but hydras are not usable vs terran because of their poor mobility and ridiculously low hp.

What he is getting at is: although they are now better against Siege tanks, the fundamental problems that exist with Hydras have not changed. If you didn't feel you were able to use them as the basis for your army before, then you shouldn't now.

On the other hand, if you were having success with Hydra's prior to the patch, they certainly haven't gotten worse.
