Steam – In Left 4 Dead 2, how to join a server by IP

My friend was playing some 10v10 on L4D2 the other night, I did a search of google and found a bunch of IP addresses for these 10v10 servers, but how do I join them? There is nowhere in game to enter an IP or anything like that.

It is possible to join by IP, you're going to have to use a feature called the Developer Console. You can find it under Keyboard Settings. Enable the Developer Console feature there.

Then, when you want to join a server, press the ~ key, that's usually the key next to 1 on your keyboard and enter connect <IP> into the prompt, for example connect 123.45.6.7. You'll then join the server.

Yes, you can. You have to make sure you know your way around the console, and playing online might or might not work.
Basically, you have to enter these commands in the console to make it work:

ss_enable 1
ss_map "map_name"
connect_splitscreen localhost

It's possible play split screen with a non-Xbox 360 controller, but you'll need to set up your own controller configurations by editing edit \left4dead\cfg\360controller.cfg. The lines you'll need to edit are the ones starting with "cmd2 bind".

You can't spectate a full game unless the server has enabled SourceTV. If SourceTV is enabled, the server will have it listening for connections on a different port, usually 5 above the server's normal port (so, port 27020 by default).
